Help with plumbing!

Hello!!! This is my first time plumbing an overflow/sump. It is a predrilled tank with 2 holes at the bottom of the overflow. I’m attempting to run it as safe as possible (preventing overflows), but there is no room to drill a 3rd hole. Previous owner ran the tank with one drain and one return. Is there any other way to run the tank safer in the event of a drain clog or lose of power.

You can use both drilled holes for drains and run the return over the top

It sounds like the tank was originally set up as an overflow containing a durso drain and a return line. There's nothing wrong with this setup and I've never heard of the durso clogging or causing flooding.

As @fishyjoes said, you could set up a dual durso, but I'll warn you that you'll have to play with the two dursos to balance them and also still might have a "flushing" sound with that much flow to the sump. You don't mention tank size, but typically the drain was 1 inch while the return was 3/4. And again, used in many tanks and nothing wrong with this setup.

It’s a 65 gallon tank and yes those were the drain and return size
