Hi,

I have a wrasse in copper QT since 10/9 at 2.09 copper power. I noticed this morning heavy breathing and white covering in one eye.

I was looking for some feedback on what to do next.

Thank you,

So I did a FW dip and have really bad flukes. Question becomes can I safely add Prazipro with the copper treatment? I do have strong aeration already.

The copper power would rule out velvet.

A single cloudy eye is often a result of a strike injury. Both eyes cloudy can be bacterial, or flukes, or sometimes an unlucky double injury.

Rapid breathing can be from flukes, bacteria OR water quality issues.

To rule out that last point, do you know the pH and ammonia level for this tank?

I presume the fish is not eating?
Are there other fish in with it?
Do they show any symptoms?

Yellow on the Ammonia alert badge. I do not know PH but I could check. I though I saw some issues on the scales so I did do a FW dip and did see flukes in the FW dip.

Now about an hour later the wrasse will swim around a bit. Versus not at all. It is swimming to the surface then gliding down. I added another air stone.

The fish is now laying not able to right itself, will get startled swim up a tiny bit then sink down. What should I do next?

I did complete a salinity, temp matched and copper matched 50% water change.

If you saw flukes after a dip with your naked eye, those are Neobenedenia flukes and they need to be dealt with:

The fish sadly died.

I did mess up the copper level with the water change (went to 1.85) preparing for the Prazi. I know that restarts the 30 days.

I still added Prazipro with two airstones, sponge filter and a hob. Copper now reads 2.17.

Is that all correct? I know to watch for any bacteria blooms(cloudy water), heavy breathing or flashing in the remaining fish( have been asymptomatic thus far)

Do a water change at day 7 if not sooner, dose again at day 8.

At would be day 16 perform another water change.

Wait until day 30 for copper complete and remove all copper water.

Observe for two weeks if all good add to display?

Sorry to hear. Yes, your plan is how I would proceed.
