Hello everyone,
I hope all of you are well.
My hermit crab has abandoned his shell.
I suspect he might be old and coming to the end of his life, but he has been surviving for about 4 or 5 days without a shell now. I have had him for nearly 2 years now.
Just when I think he has died and I'm about to take him out, he twitches and starts walking around.
He often lies on his back for hours on end, not moving at all (this is when I assume he is dead). Then he will be upright and also not moving/ walking around very slowly.
I have put plenty of other shells around him that he would fit into, but he isn't even exploring them or showing any interest in them.
All of my other fish and crabs are alright, eating well and staying active.
What do you think the issue could be?
