Thanks for the add. Some of you might remember me from an old online reef community that went by Reef Aquarium Guide as LiveRocker1.
Up until 2007, I had been an avid aquarist for about 25 years. My last project, though small, was very cutting edge at the time and ine of the most enjoyable projects in my life. It was a 175g build and I can't find my notes, but will eventually. Here's what I remember about the highlights. I had 2 laptops running a program thst simulated tides, daylight and moonlight of Fiji. I awoke one night to my wife in a panic, she said my water looked like milk. After a sleepless night of pictures and water changes, we found out our corals had spawned at exactly the same time they were spawning in Fiji. I was contacted by Sea World and they asked me for all my notes and that for this to happen was extremely rare. Very exciting.
Life circumstances forced a breakdown of the tank. I was contacted by the managers at Mandalay Bay's 'Shark Reef' in Las Vegas. They sent a team to break down the tank and carefully take all my sand, rock, corals and fish, package them and send to Mandalay Bay.
In essence, if you go there, my 175 g reef seeded their entire display and is thriving today.
I'm at a point to begin another project and am going to need help. I've forgotten sooo much. I want to do a 200g build, my question is: if money weren't an object, from start to completion how would you do this build and WHY? I'm hoping that there are methods now that significantly cut down on maintenance and water changes.
