Welcome to the community! I use to feel this way as well, but once I started it was fairly easy. I suggest getting an AIO (all-in-one) to dip your toe in and learn from. A lot easier than going with a sump at first (imo).
 
Welcome to R2R and the salty world. Take things slowly. Lots of knowledgeable and helpful people here who will support and advise you when needed.
