welcome , albany area here , if ya ever need anything let me know, although not sure where you are lol
I appreciate it, thank you. We're just on the other side of the cesspool from the Albany area. We're in the Scotia/Glenville area. Back when I had the other reef, there was a local group called CDMAS (Capital District Marine Aquarists Society). They did did regular meet-ups and frag swaps. I can't seem to find any info on them anymore. Do you happen to know if they're still around, or if there are any new local groups that have popped up since?

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I look forward to learning from you all, and I'm really excited to see everything that's changed in the hobby since my last venture. Wasn't really excited to learn that "live" rock isn't commonplace anymore, though I definitely see the value in getting a pest free start. I did find an old video of a polyclad flatworm that came as a hitchhiker in my first batch of live rock. this thing was about the size of a half dollar when I started my reef, and I hadn't seen it in about 3 years. I had no idea it had survived all that time. please excuse my over-dramatic reaction to it. LoL

Welcome back! What’s your favorite fish or coral?
Thank you! and Favorite Coral? probably the Neon Green Sinularia or the Zoanthids. Favorite Fish? Hands down was the Red Head Salon Fairy Wrasse. Always has a thing for the red heads.

There was 2 or 3 attempts at some meet ups a few years ago. I think there is still one that happens syracuse way.

There's always reefapaloza ny.

I’m about an hour west of Albany. I requested to join the 518 club weeks ago and never heard back (or maybe I was rejected). Anyway, welcome. I’d love to have an active local club.
Not sure who admin is/was on that group
