welcome back to reefing!Hey all. Though I would pop in here for a quick introduction. I'm new to the Forum, old to the aquarium hobby, and just getting back into Reef keeping after a long hiatus. Over the years, I've gone in many different directions in the hobby. Everything from tropical community, Tanganyikan Cichlids, fully planted and nearly everything in between. The most enjoyable, most rewarding, and also the most heartbreaking of all these experiences was by far my 70g mixed reef. It was about 12 years ago that that beautiful reef setup was "accidentally" poisoned by my (now ex) wife armed with an ill-aimed can of aerosol furniture polish. Some of the fish survived. Some of the corals recovered too. But the heartbreak of the losses were just too much for me to overcome at the time.
A lot of time has passed since then, and my current wife is a wonderful woman who actually supports me in my passions. As a veteran 911 Dispatcher rapidly approaching retirement eligibility, and survivor of the "hey, you had a heart attack at work" experience, I've decided it's time to dip my toes back into the hobby. I'll be starting smaller this time (40g), but we'll see where it brings me.
I'll leave you all with the only few photos I could find of my 75g reef before the great demise. It didn't always look this dirty, I promise. I would frequently take before and after photos, so hopefully one of these days I will stumble upon some of the "after the cleaning" pics.
I'm hoping the admin of the existing group pops on one of these days. I'd like to see if he would be willing to turn the reins over to a more active member. If not, I may try to get something going myself. I'll be sure to collect up the names of those who've mentioned they're local to the area and let everyone know.

If you go to account details and scroll all the way to the bottom you can add your link to appear under your username. I think you only get the option to add a link in your signature if you upgrade to a supporting member.
