So Cal, Monrovia. 100g and 30g sump. Tank has been up for 2 moths it's used and abused equipment. The tank, from FB marketplace is scratched to all get out. The sump is okay. Sump has one giant mount for 1 filter sock. No RODI or Skimmer yet. We used to call of that Bio balls.
Started this salt hobby 30 years ago and took a 20 year freshwater break, ya know kids, money, can't have both.
Sure looks like this $300.00 setup turned into about $5,000.00 while I was gone.
Ugly brown stage is completed and just dealing with a little cloud right now.
Tons of rock, 4 fish, 1 big hermit and a shrimp, a couple mushrooms and 2 frilly things.
Bought a 50 piece CUC online. Not sure how that's working out yet. 10 shells haven't moved in a week and I haven't seen that really cool looking Emerald crab since I dropped him in there.
I miss real live rock from the LFS.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!! It does seem that setups have become more expensive. However with some of the new equipment it's also far easier to keep a tank stable and happy.

Good luck with your new build!
