Is it true that if your alk is too high the skeleton of some sps corals with actually outgrow the flesh?
 
happens to mine whenever alk exceeds 8 dkh. i have to dose no3 and sometimes po4
 
It is a hypothesis that it can happen in ultra low nutrient systems (causing burnt tips), but it doesn't seem to be an issue in higher nutrient systems where both the skeleton and the tissue can grow faster.
