High nitrates

I have a 40 gallon tank. That has 2 bta in it. I just moved houses amonth ago and I have a 1500 cascade cascade on it. Canister is. Is older and she's holding nitrates. I was wondering if I can run sump for about two weeks without a skimmer. I am going to turn it into an anemone tank

You have a canister filter? That's probably where the nitrates are coming from.

Should be fine. Are you able to do a water change, to drop the nitrates a bit?

I think you are going to hit a brick wall.
No3 has few ways of export.
So with what you have stated water changes are your best bet.
A sump with no skimmer will gain no grounds unless you load it with macros

I was thinking of getting the sump going this week with some rubble and chaeto then save some moves and buy a skimmer like 2 weeks later. Will that be okay.

If you don't have a skimmer, I wouldn't venture down keeping anemones.
If you're going to keep the canister, look into nopox, that will definitely help ya.

I'm gonna get a skimmer eventually just don't have money to get one. And 30

The answer you want is yes, of course you can run a sump and bring in thw skimmer later. The extra rouble will help with surface area for bacteria. Chaeto and a good grow light and flow will help with nutrient removal. the skimmer is important though imo. Asap. And I agree, ditch the canister. Just make sure you have some type of prefilter before the rouble. Even a course sponge. Or you will trap more debris and have the same issue as the can. Good luck:-)
