Hey all. I have a cpr hob refugium. I had it up with sand, some rock and macroalgae. After about 2 months it started having tons of aiptasia which I never seen in the dt, and the algae and red slime on the part where the water goes back in was getting crazy. I did try to cut back on thw light and it helped with the alage part. I want to put it back up, but whats the best way to make it succesful? How much light and for how long is good for the macro? And would a blue uv light placed by the intake part in refugium help at all with anything?

UV can always help with water clarity and reducing pathogens in the water. How long did you have the lights on daily? Do you have pictures? You’d probably be just fine with only chaetomorpha/macroalgae in a small HOB fuge.
