Hooded Flame Wrasse question

Hey all, thinking of getting a pair of Cirrhilabrus bathyphilus, and had 2 questions.

1. Can I keep a pair of them together?
2. If so, should I buy a male and female, or 2 females under the assumption 1 will transition to a male?

You can have a pair… but you’ll end up with two males that will likely fight to the death in the long term. Depending on tank size you could have the two cohabitate (but it would likely have to be 6’+ in length unless you have a lot of rock in a smaller tank).

Don't waste your money on a pair. The female will eventually transition to male - having two males of the same species will be a problem. If you have the option to buy a female bathyphilus you won't be disappointed watching her transition into a male - go for the female :)

Alright, one female it is. May add an exquisite or mystery some other wrasse instead!
