Howdy yall, so for some background, I made my stand out of tslots (aluminum extrusion). I kept it super bare bones and went with it. The problem is, there is barely any space underneath, especially with my saltwater mix, todi container, etc. i’ll post some pictures with measurements (and please ignore the absolute crapshow of cable management, I also want to fix that as well😅). This is an IM Nuvo 20, btw.

My idea was to attach a shelf underneath the tank for a dosing container and my dosing pumps, because i’m going to start with that soon as well. Right now most things are connected to the 6-socket Kasa smart power strip, with the light attached to a normal power strip that also has my laptop and some other stuff connected to it as well (my tank is right next to my desk).
I know we have some geniuses in here, so your expertise is greatly valued! Unless this is a lost cause…………..

Congrats on the new stand.

  • Why do you need the trash can under your tank?
  • Can you just build another cabinet to the right of the tank?
  • Consider drawing out what you want to accomplish, I'm not clear on the goal based on your brief description. Some ideas that come to mind:
    • add a drawer/shelf on tracks
    • mount a vertical board on tracks to the inside of the stand to mount your dosing pump to
    • What dosing pump(s) do you use? Maybe consider a single unit with multiple heads for space and wire management efficiency, I use this unit on both my systems and love it: https://amzn.to/4dcoW1l

Thanks for the great response! The brute can is actually my saltwater reservoir, so I fill it up and mix salt in there and i have approximately a month’s worth of water changer water, or extra water incase i take some out of the tank for other purposes. Really helps make water changes convenient.

Thanks for the recommendation! I have added it to my cart. I was also looking at a kamoer pump as well. I’d most likely dose AFR, and manganese for my goni.

I’ll get back to you with the idea/drawing soon.
Thanks for the advice

the drawer/shelf on tracks sounds like a neat idea, but since the stand is already in use with a reef tank above it and everything, I'm not sure how that would work. You think building an 11Lx8W cabinet to the right would work? the actual usable space would be a little less than that dimension because of the width of the actual sides, or maybe I can make it with tslot, and place the left two legs on the inside of the current stand to have some more space... would probably not look the best though

something like this? yellow= no panel on the floor since the tank stand's frame would be in the way.

yeah, and I'd have the small cabinet open on the left side with an opening on the right side of the stand so you can run ATO lines and wires as needed.
