Maybe a bad salt batch 🤷‍♂️ hard to tell.
 
The iron is no concern. The tin is also probably not high enough to be an issue, but can come from plastics that use it as a stabilizer.

Not sure on the iodine source. What is the phosphateLevel? They can sometimes interfere.

they were HIGH 2.4ppm i have now got them down to 0.56 combination of 10% water change every day for 10 days and i started rowaphos yesterday

i only had fish so didnt test i was not being lazy i was doing 1% water change a day for a year but that method dosent work for me obv lol so iv started doing 10% every day for 30 days to get nutrients back into check then ill assess from there
 
FWIW, water changes are not very effective for removing phosphate (unlike nitrate) because such a larger portion of the total is bound to rock and sand, which comes off as you try to lower it.

yes i know that but unless my rowaphos reduced it from 2.4ppm to 0.56 in like 12 hours water changes must have done something? i used 170 grams of rowaphos in a 94 gallon tank

GFO can do that, depending on how much you used and how it is employed. It will also rise back up some no matter how you lowered it in 12 h due to desorption, unless you keep exporting it. . :)

and do you think i should change the rowaphos now or wait awhile longer?

Rock. GFO will too, but only if you put it in lower phosphate water than where it bound in the first place.

GFO depletes rapidly at high phosphate levels. You can always test the effluent if using it in a way that allows that, but if phosphate is above 0.5 ppm, active use with decent flow likely depletes it in less than a couple of days.

so i think iv hit a brick wall my phosphates seem to be stuck at 0.14ppm down from 2.34 i guess this is the leeching from the rocks slowing it down? i want to order 2 favia coral i have seen will 0.14 kill them or will they be alright? im sending another icp off wednesday see if iodine has gone down ect and wanted to order the favias next week

It is not correct that 0.14 ppm phosphate kills any corals. My recommended target range is 0.06 to 0.3 ppm.
 
apart from nitrate being sky high and phosphates ( both getting worked on want nitrate 20ppm and phosphate 0.1 or lower) do you see any reason why i would not be able to keep coral? i have never ever been able to keep coral they do fine for 1 month and all goes wrong from there i want to succeed this time this is my 2nd icp nitrate was 261ppm and phosphate was 2.3ppm in 1st 1 (1% water changes a day did not work for me) @Randy Holmes-Farley

@The Ugly Phase, you could add some ornamental macroalgae to your display or sump if you have room and a spare light. Macroalgae like Codium are not invasive and would use up some of the phosphates. There are many beautiful species but be sure to research which ones are invasive.

i am running rowaphos in a reactor atm and working well my phosphate was 2.3ppm
 
so randy my nitrates are probs 52ppm now as i have done 2x 8 gallon water changes since i sent off that ICP if i get it to say 30-40ppm can i start adding corals or is it best to wait to get it down to 20ppm?

today was water change #18 water change #25 will get my nitrates to 30ppm should be good to go then right?
