I buy water from a local store and just found out it’s collected from the sea. I used to keep it for around 2 months in a container in the dark with no circulation. Never smelled bad so i didn’t assume it was spoiled, but now i worry there are no nutrients and it doesn’t benefit nothing in my aquarium at all.

DHK drops while its in storage. Some salts is better than others for storage. What brand do you use? Usually a week's supply is sufficient.

The concern with natural seawater or seawater with organics in it being stored unstirred is it may become anaerobic from decay of dead organisms and organic matter in it.

Is this something that can be ruled off with tests before a water change? I can add a water pump to the container if it’s a problem

it could be filtered and sanitized (?)
like the petco pacific water…

That will help, but likely not permanently prevent the issue.

Anyway, if the OP tries it, smell is a good indicator it went bad.

It never smelled bad but i’m still worried it may cause future problems. My corals open just fine but i do have a hair algae issue (though i tested my RO/DI water and found out it’s 13ppm… so i think it’s due to that and i already bought a refil for the filter)

If it smells OK (no hydrogen sulfide), then I cannot see any problems from storage that were not there when it was fresh.
