LOVE Moonshine! it's saved my corals twice! Once with Dino's and another with idk what yet....
How exactly did it cure Dino’s????

Get your ph up they will grow! It has nothing to do with trace elements if you ask me! I don’t dose any trace and I have some very large colonies after 18months.. 1” frags are now about 16” colonies across lol.
Do water changes frequently?

Part of the premise of MS is not necessarily doing any water changes unless to reduce nutrients or something else that has built up. Have to keep up with the ICP tests though as you must replenish with elements that show as being depleted on the ICP.

It's not a cure all - just one of many methods to get where you want to be. I also bought the majority of the elements from a LFS that specializes in MS Method and has helped me get proficient.

I am correcting a zinc and manganese issue which is way too high currently. Then I will switch to MS after the correction following another ICP (planned around July or so).

I do 30% a month but now I can’t for the next 3 months. too hot in Vegas I rely on my fish food to add any traces I need.. heavy in, heavy out!

I know exactly how it’s suppose to work lol… I was keeping sps before there was a such thing as icp testing! I’m not sold on it and I don’t believe it personally… we didn’t even have 90% of the additives that are available to you guys today either and still had amazing tanks.. Im really curious how it cured Dino’s thou cause it would be flying off the shelf if that was true! Haha!

Wasn't necessarily directed at you! Your tanks are the my goal! Just keeping the conversation going after questions from others.

Yeah agreed on the Dinos piece. That's not necessarily a Moonshine thing.

Pretty simple! I run my tank simple! High lighting, high flow, skimmer, live rock, top off with kalk and change your water.. that’s how we did it 20 years ago and I still do today lol..

I actually prefer to buy mariculture nameless frags from chop shops. From my experience milli will take about a month to color up. Tenuis will take about 3 months to look nice and about a year to show full potential

it didnt cure dinos. what didnt happen though, was loss of coral from all the treatment
And what leads you to believe it was the moonshiners?????? I had Dino’s a few months back and didn’t loose a single piece with just a uv lol.

Trace elements can push some extra colors out. I had good color before that with waterchanges though. As far as color up time..depends on a ton of factors. Usually within a month or so for me. Sometimes it takes a few months.

If you want to keep SPS happy, you need to set up your tank with that goal. Keep your water parameters consistent. Have strong flow. Have good lighting coverage and par. Manage your PH, especially at night.

That being said, my tank goes up and down. I lose colonies sometimes. There’s no secret or magic method. Just focus on growing SPS.
