For people with multiple quarantine tanks, what is your reason for having multiple quarantines? Is one for corals and one for fish? Or do you just get enough fish and corals that it is necessary to have multiple quarantines?

I have two quarantines because one is holding an eel+inverts+rock from a tank that was devastated by Velvet. Eels are copper sensitive so I couldn't treat it with the other fish.

Second quarantine is for new arrivals, so far fish only.

I currently have 5 tanks.
125 gallon reef
20 gallon FW planted
55 gallon FW planted
125 gallon FW planted
53 gallon FW non-planted

The plan is to take down the 55 and the 53, and build a 130-150 gallon FOWLR. This has been the plan for a long time. I just can't quite bring myself to part with those two tanks yet.

There are a lot of really cool planted tanks out there. If you don't mind me asking how does pricing compare when getting all the supplies for a planted tank as compared to a reef tank?

Well to be honest, all of my planted tanks are low tech and I run HOB filters on all of them. So between filter media, fertilizers, carbon(excel), etc... they are significantly cheaper to maintain than the reef.
