More than enough. You might also want to consider a solar battery generator for the return pump. That way you can run that at night, not burning gas 24 hours a day.

I have been using my 4,000 watt generator for 10 years in this and my last house. My last house had 3 refrigerators and two families living there along with my 100 gallon tank and I was able to supply my neighbors with power.

Now I am looking to sell it and get something a little smaller because this house is smaller

Size of the gas tank my friend. That's why I suggest a gas generator + battery backup (e.g., Ecoflow).

I run a 2200w I got from northern supply. Does my 2x 300W heaters and 12000 lph return pump, plus our fridge router and 2 blower motors on our propane fireplaces.
Tank stays running, food stays good and we can keep warm.

That said the heaters barely run because the room is heated by the fireplace.

Have to do some extension cord swapping when we want to run the microwave.

I didn't want to go to oversized on the generator due to fuel consumption. I had a 5500W and burned 2x the fuel with the same load.

I would look to get a bigger generator than what your tank needs. Having some normal functions like a few lights, refrigerator, maybe something to cook with and even a heater. Having entertainment doesn't hurt.

Also, your ability to get to a gas station factors in as well. 4WD and snow tires are useless on ice covered surfaces. This particular winter storm is predicted to have massive areas of freezing rain. Be careful out there! Just a few days ago there was a 100 car pile up in Michigan via slick snow/ice covered roads.

When I've seen storms coming I will stock up on ethanol free gas. Maybe 2-3 containers. Depending on what is predicted, maybe more. If it doesn't get used, put it in the gas tank of your car.

I have a Harbor Freight Predator inverter generator. I think it's 3500 Watts and cost me about $700-$800. Good value for the money and they are quiet. Runs all my Tanks and 2 refrigerators and lasts about 8 hours on a Tank of Gas. About 2.5-3 Gallons.

The Honda might have a small tank but Inhave used it in job sites and he runs for awhile on a single tank of gas

I don't think so. I wouldn't get hung up on the "size of the gas tank" mentioned in posts above. What matters is the ability to source gasoline in extended periods of no power. You have a generator that has a lot of utility. Want to take it camping with you CHECK. As mentioned above it's portable enough to carry to a job site CHECK. Is this a reliable piece of equipment with a lot of owner/user support CHECK.

I ran my whole house and tank on a 3500W generator. I have a natural gas boiler, stove and dryer so my electrical load is low that I've had to almost 15 years but it wouldn't start today and then seized up so I splurged on an 11,500W inverter generator that is tri-fuel and splurged.

I have added several hundred extra watts with new setup and this new generator is pure sine wave so shouldn't be any issues with sensitive electrical stuff. Plan to have my plumber install a NG fitting on outside of the house next to generator plug so I can run it without having to fill up the gas tank!

@Notsolostfish I don't think 2000W generator would work for 1000W heaters and return pump and I would suggest getting a higher wattage. You'll use too high of the load on a 2000W generator and it wouldn't be as efficient as a higher wattage generator running on lower load IMO and you'll have extra wiggle room to stay far away from overloading the 2000W generator.

I would also suggest splurging on an inverter generator. My old one was a normal one and loud and the new inverter generator I just picked up is holy smokes quiet!

I'm also in the path of the storm, luckily far enough north I should only get snow though.

I have a Jackery 1000 that I've used several times during outages from tornadoes. The 1000 will run just my tank for a solid 8-9 hours full blast. I can extend this by turning down lights, pumps, and heater slightly to conserve more energy.

We had an outage for 8 days last year and with the addition of some portable 200w solar panels, I can make this last almost indefinitely in low power configuration (lower lights slightly, and turn off heaters) on top of keeping my fridge cold. My house water heater is gas so I can still use it during outages and I take a large jug and fill it with piping hot water and throw it in the sump. Obviously this is kind of a waste of water and I could probably use a gas stove to recycle/reheat it but this helps regulate temp a little better (be careful with this on smaller tanks, my 150g has plenty of water volume to prevent a temp spike by doing this).

I plan to add an EZ Generator switch to my HVAC system so that I can also run house heat during the cold ice/snow storms which will also help regulate tank temp.

Anyways... I think the Honda you got will serve you just fine for many years but don't expect it to power the whole house. Your tank and fridge is all I would rely on it for. Good luck, stay safe!
