Curious - back in the days before electricity, what method did old timers like you prefer to keep warm?

We stuffed our pockets with firefish and flame angels. Of course, my house was heated with whale oil. I don't like hurting whales, so I only collected it from whales that died of old age.

We also didn't buy any Japanese Honda generators. Only American wooden ones.

I have a Champion Inverter and I figured out where the gas shut off was and that I have a screw to empty the fuel from the carb. so with these two things you can keep your power dry so to speak.
I was trying to turn off the gas with vent cap on the fuel cap, wrong.

Yep, Honda has the drain screw as well but with Non-Ethanol fuel I've never needed that extra step. I test my gens every 6 months to make sure they start right up.

Did i make a bad decision buying the honda?

No, you made a brilliant decision.

I have a 3000is and it:

1. Sips gas.
2. Is extremely quiet.
3. Lasts forever if properly maintained.

In my opinion, the only bad decision is NOT buying a Honda.

I don't think most folks realize what Honda makes vs what comes equipped with a Honda engine.

They don't make pressure washers, they no longer make (ICE) lawn mowers. Countless products come with Honda Engines, but the products are not "Honda Quality".

They do make generators, pumps, snow blowers, race engines, boat engines, and a few other things that are all basically best in class products that meet extremely high engineering standards.

If you can splurge a bit get the Honda. It's one of the quietest generators out there, plus if it's taken care of it will last a very long time.

Honda has a clean sine wave inverter and if you ever want to you can buy another a daisy chain them and double your output.

My 2000 runs 8 hours on a full tank and can take the start amps for a small freezer for sure don't know about big freezers or also a refrigerator

Yes, you can mix different models too in parallel.

We installed a backfeed breaker with an interlock on the panel, all BUT Central A/C should be covered.

I thought about that; same OCD reasons.

In retrospect, I should have bought two 2200s due to space constrains in the garage. The 3000 is very quiet, the 2200 whispers.

How many cell phones do you have to charge? ROFL!!!

We use about 2000-2200 kWh monthly, its a small NY home.

There is no need to parallel them in most cases unless you are trying to feed a single high current source or your combined needs can’t be evenly split, leaving unusable headroom on one or the other. Math would help, but I am too lazy in this instance.

Splitting the loads to two superspreader generators and cords often makes more sense.

Its not about consumption its about the possible combined load the furnace alone uses 960 watts when running

I used to run a 4000w portable generator for our outages. I got tired of hauling it out in wind/rain/snow/whatever hell, refilling gas, maintenance (degumming the carb is necessary!) spark plugs, bla bla bla. Sold it and plunked down some real cash for a whole home natural gas generator. Best thing I ever did lol. Thankfully the wife was cool with it since it cost a pretty penny. But, overall, the convenience and everything was worth it to us. Plus it increased resale value of the home.

That is just the blower the start amps are about 25 it switches quick but that is what it is it then drops to about8. There is more consumed but negligible now picture the changing loads a single incandescent light bulb is 60 -100 keep going
