How much clearance is required for IM NUVO EXT Complete Reef System

I'm debating between the Innovative Marine NUVO EXT 50-gallon and the INT 50-gallon complete reef systems (Also Waterbox EX 60.2, but leaning towards the IM) . For the EXT system, does anyone know how many inches of clearance do you need from the wall for the back plumbing? If it is a lot I may need to go with the INT.

I'm also unsure about the ATO reservoir. Is there a reservoir that fits inside the cabinet, or is placing it behind the tank a the best option?

My 100g EXT is about 6 inches off the wall. I'll update this with an exact amount once I get home from work today.

I’ll go get the measurements on my 100 ext for you, it should be the same, but I’ll add that using it without easy access to the rear would be a nightmare. It’s technically doable but will definitely suck.

How far off the wall are you able to go? Tank shows 23.6 without the overflow so how much more than that would your space allow. Or is it more of a visual preference.

It’s 5.5 inchs to the unions on the valves. Luckily my room has this weird corner so I have a good bit of space behind it

I'm planning on replacing the right cabinets with the tank, but a little worried that the walkway will be too narrow with the EXT.

Yeah I think you will want it too far from the wall if I am judging from the picture.

I don’t have this exact aquarium, but on my EXT system I have 5 3/4 inches between my rear tank glass panel to the wall, and I’m gonna tell you it’s the bare minimum that you wanna go because doing anything behind there is not fun. I have a 4 foot long cabinet so reaching back in there to do anything is cuss words.

Not sure how different the 100 is to the 50, but do you think I can fit an ATO reservoir in the cabinet above the sump? How do you have it?

I have a separate room for ATO. But I was going to put it into the stand and use gravity feed. It can definitely be done. While yes the tanks are different the sumps and stands are the same height so clearance should be identical.

With that if you put it above the return section you will have 13x13x 9 inchs for the ATO. If absolutely necessary I’m fairly certain I could also get all the controls stuffed in there too.

What do you really need to do back there once its set up ? Beside if it leakes. I like the fact that you can clean it out once in a while.
The int full length seems like it would be a detris collector ?
Also with the ato and other stuff look into just buying a cabinet to set next to it ?

I have the ability to slide past the side of mine and hang out behind it. With that when I am doing maintenance I am probably spending 90% of my time back there. Obviously, if I couldn't get back there I would spend 0% of my time back there.

I think because IM stands are generally pretty full its hard to add much else into the stand besides the sump, so all my extra stuff is behind my tank, in addition to my utility room in the basement. A cabinet set next to it would fix the issue and I wish IM would sell companion cabinets for just that purpose.

They have shorter ones

I have 3 ext systems, 170, 112, and 50. All are 12" off the wall. I built 8020 frames behind them to hold ato, co2, power strips and bricks.

All mine are hung from 8020.

The 8020 can be attatched to the back of the stand if you want.
The 112 is done that way. It makes for a very sturdy system.

Lights are just comming on in the ext50. I hung 3 xr15 gen 5 blues.
