I'm starting to notice some cyanobacteria starting in my tank. I have about 130-140 total water volume. How should I go about dosing peroxide for this? I also have some red FW that I am working on getting rid of. Will to much peroxide cause a big die off with the FW causing them to leak toxins into the tank?
Thanks

The general rule is 1ml per 10 gallons. As far as I know it should have no impact on the flatworms. There are a few "safe" flatworms in my nano that has been dosed with h2o2. They are a different kind of flatworm then what you are describing, but I see no reason the h2o2 would would cause a different reaction.

@twilliard can you chime in on this? I have not heard of any problems with h2o2 and flatworms, but you are the peroxide expert:)

Ok. I know twilliard told me to put 6ml in to make the FW release and flot in my filter sock. I have work since then and have not tried it. I was just afraid of killing them and them crashing my tank. I want them gone just don't want to use flatworm exit on them. Thanks for your help!

Oh if you already spoke with him I would definitely follow his instructions! Does it make them release by killing them, knocking them out, or irritating them?Either way I would like to know if it has that effect on all flatworms, or if red plenaria is more sensitive to h2o2. Is there anything peroxide can't do! Lol

Lol. I does more than I knew it did. It just makes them release so that they can be sucked into your filter.

If that tests shows cyanobacteria then this is the next step.
1ml per 10 gallons of volume dosed every 12 hours for 14 days
May be bumped up to 1ml per 8 gallons of volume depending on size of outbreak.

I am not seeing cyanobacteria but I do see a gorgonia in trouble. Need to blow off its slime coat.

You would have to run that test for positive identification otherwise we are making assumptions about a treatment plan
Cross out fingers that it's not dinoflagellates by looking at the color and a few thin strands I see

Try to get a picture of what is starting on your rocks
It's hard to tell if it's the gorgonia just shedding or if there is another issue

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
