Ok so I am looking at my 125 FOWLR. I think there is way to much rock in it. In my reef I have two islands with plenty of space for corals to grow. But the fish only system just looks like it has way to much to rock in it. There are plenty of places for fish to hide and swim though but there are so many some times I don't see some of the fish. With fish only systems do most people have a lot of rock, medium amount, or little?

its really a personal choice, i perfer the more open look like your island scaping. how about some pictures so we can all see. good luck

I will admit I have been slacking on this tank but I am now starting to get nice fish for it so I want it to look better.

i would make two piles, maybe three with lots of sand and water space. might off set the piles have one more in the corner then another one near the front. just my thoughts, good luck

Blazin - From your picture i would personally take some rock out...recently i have seen some tanks that are more open and they just have a good feel to them. You can still have areas for fish to hide but maybe thin out the rock a little. just my opinion.

I think that is the plan.

Yeah redoing 200+lbs of rock is gonna be chore. Might just have do do one side at a time...

Wow thats a lot of rock - Do you have any putty to try to mold things together?? i was just thinking that if you draw it out first maybe it would be easier.

Yeah it is a lot of rock. If you look at the pic there are 3-4 boulders on the bottom they are about 15lbs a piece and about 4 years old.

Good Luck BlazinNano... 200lbs in a nano??!! ;) jj, I saw the 125g. I had a FOWLR for 6 years in a 55, I wanted a more open look, but did have good hiding places and swim throughs, I think I only had 45lbs, so it was pretty open. I really liked it and never had an issue with water quality. I did have an oversize skimmer though, but pretty much no other filtration.
