How often should we replace temp probes?

I'm just curious because my temp probe is about 3 years old now and I'm wondering if there is an expected lifespan to these. Obviously I know if they totally fail generally they will read a very low temperature and I have my apex programmed to send me a warning if that happens. However, will they just slowly crap out over time?
