How often to offer live food?

I have a Fu Manchu lion and am wondering how often I should offer him live food. He ate 2 small fish this evening.
 
Only 2-3 times a week.
 
I just got him. Should I fatten him up a little first and then cut back? I am hoping he starts tasting the Reef Frenzy I normally feed.
