How safe is automated water changes? Possible flood risk?

I've been gravitating towards the idea of automated small water changes throughout the week instead of one big water change every couple of weeks or so.

I brought it up with my family, but they're hesitant about the idea... they're worried it may fail and cause flooding damage to the house.

Do you guys employ flooding protection, and if so how?

To give context, I'm looking at a DOS pump to do the water change, controlled by my Apex. I imagine you can program in some fail safes, and maybe use their water level sensor to provide some more protection.

So, is automated water changes a bad idea, or is the flooding risk minimal?

Been doing it for years with versa pumps, same concept as dos. 1% daily change, 20 minutes on every 2 hours.

you can limit it by limiting the supply to your RO container size like 10g or something
