So. I ran copper for 2 weeks at theroputic levels (checked with Hanna copper checker) the beggining thing of this year, transferred to a sterile holding tank, cleaned and sterilized the main QT. and put them back in. One month later I thought I saw ich so I ran copper again. I have another thread asking about if I failed the first time or not. And a lot of you said I may not have failed and its just some copper poisoning on my blue hippos. So again. I put them into a sterile holding tank tank, cleaned and sterilized main QT and out them back in. (oh and yes, both times that I cleaned and sterilized main QT I let it air dry for days).

In a nut shell. I was contemplating getting out of the hobby due to all this stress and money. Was gonna sell all my tangs (achilies, purple, 2 blue hippos, mustard) the guy says he's on his way. so I fill a bucket, drain main QT (no copper in it BTW) take it out to him and he doesn't buy them. In a rush not to kill all these tangs in a bucket. I fill the main QT back up again, mix salt and run it, unfortunately the temp is as t about 50°. I know that it'll take almost a day to get back to 78ish. and those tangs will surely die in a bucket. So I had to make a decision. I threw them into an established tank...that I KNOW has ich. The next day I put them into my main QT. Crossed my fingers and hoped they didn't get infected. A couple weeks later. Bam! Theres ich on them.

So my question is, when can I run copper again? They were in copper in the begging of February till about mid February. God I feel so stressed and I KNOW these fish are too. I'm surprised they haven't died on me yet.

You can start copper now, increase slowly over 3-5 days. I personally run it no less than 30 days when i have a fish clearly displaying Ich.

BTW don't let this get you down, it's a sign the guy didn't buy the tangs. If you wanted a stress free hobby you would be doing something else lol. This hobby gives back so much IMO, we all have our ups and downs. I have had my time of breaking down tanks, Dinos issues for months that lead to tank break down. I have had 4 15gal QT tanks going at once with stressed fish all being treated with copper for ich. Who's not eating, who's fighting due to being in a smaller tank, the wrasses have cups of sand only instead of an entire sand bed... DT going fallow for 76 days.... We have all been there but it will get better :)
