So I left my tank with my mom when I went on vacation for two week and came back and my green star polyp was full of green hair algae. I tried to blow it off but it all wont come off so I got some hydrogen peroxide, but have no idea how to do the dip. Can someone please help me get the correct dilution and time for the dip?

Not personal experience but I’ve read two users doing a 50/50 (peroxide to tank water), 10 minute dip.

I’d recommend snails or a crab or something to eat it rather than a dip but peroxide works fast with algae very quickly due to its chemical nature to oxidize.

Yeah I wanted to get some trochus snails to deal with it but I have to order them online and everyone is out of stock.

Never done gsp in peroxide but I dip zoas for 4 minutes in straight peroxide you get at the drug store. Day or two in the tank and they bounce back, I also use a long acrylic squirted/dropper to sort of squirt of any straggling algae.

Thanks. I think I might go with 10:1 proportion.

Do you spot squirt in the dt or in a separate container?

Once the frag has been dipped it goes in front of the power head for a free seconds and that’s it. I routinely dose hydrogen peroxide to the tank as well.

I use it on my zoa frags. I use straight hydrogen peroxide and haven’t lost a zoa at all. I don’t use it on my acro frags as they could be affected by it. Zoa bounce back within a few hours. If I have to use it in a spot inside the tank, i turn off the flow, I remove what I can by hand and then put some on the affected part. I then up my skimmer and watch the orp in the tank.
It lowers its dramatically if too much is lost and fish get affected by it.
