How to make money for reef tank

[Everything Aquatics]

How does everyone Sustain the hobby and keep cost low for example like selling frags. What I do is sell lobsters to pay for the coral

[WIReefer]

Sell cured dry rock locally been doing pretty good on it. And work overtime lol

I did some freshwater maintenance because most people have freshwater, I’ve considered making rock stands and such but haven’t started yet. I’m also working on a project that I’m not gonna talk about yet but I’ll start selling hopefully soon

Take on extra jobs and more hours.

Im about to go to college, didnt want to spend that much money, but if you buy the equipment slowly then its not that bad. My tank didnt have lights for a few months :) but got my first job and got everything i needed. Moving my tank to a new stand soon, pimped out plumbing and everything

twice a week I go and donate plasma. $50 each time for an hour of sitting and chilling on my phone while reading these threads.

I drink beer while watching my tank until I vastly overestimate the size of my bank account and make impulse purchases

[Ippyroy]

I work 80 hours a week for 1/2 the year and I quit drinking. I spent about 200 bucks a week on booze so I am in the black by a long shot.

Threads like this should be deleted immediately !!
My tank is not expensive to keep, it’s only a minor expense. Now that’s my belief and any implication other wise is an attempt to bring sanity into my world.

Selling frags.

I work 14 hours a day for 14 days straight, in remote locations. Don’t “need” to do anything extra. My fish tank allowance is $1000 a week, almost have everything for my 400 gallon build, just need the tank and lights

I made a little side fund to help me budget for the hobby.

Its an expensive hobby somtimes. You can get away with things and be budget oriented though!

Also.... I just take every extra job I can LOL

Well before the economy took a dump this year I usually have extra money or OT to really stack it up.

I told my wife that -
...I don’t hunt anymore, don’t play golf anymore, don’t have 4 wheelers or boats, don’t go fishing with my buddies in Alaska & Central America, don’t have any vices (other than her), our kids are grown & it’s cheaper than therapy.

She said... ”go get your aquarium” ;)
