How to opt out of R2R private messages?

I didn’t see anything obvious in preferences or privacy of how to opt out of these. They don’t really fit me well or have any relevance. Today’s Black Friday notice was a great way to point out that we have spent days having to scroll past spam stickies for Black Friday.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
