Hello,

There are hundreds of tiny snails all over my tank, and for the 3rd time in a month, my skimmer is jammed. Do any of you put a sponge in front of your skimmer intake?

ugh I remember 4 months ago when I thought trochus spawning was cool ☠️.

Do you have any pictures of the culprits? Sounds like you have a lot of collonista snails. As for you skimmer is you pump for it internal or external? I'm sure either way you can make a mesh screen to cover the impeller.

I use a overflow strainer and filed a slot in it to fit over the venturi.

Thanks for the tips!

To back track, my skimmer is in my sump. I use filter socks in the sump, but these darn babies get everywhere. I’ve been manually adding them back to my display whenever I see them.

I would try to catch them out if you can't get a cover over the skimmer intake that does not impede its performance. I have had recent spawns of trochus snails and they like nori so you can put some on a clip in your sump to attract them for easy capture.
