Hello R2R members,
I need to pick your brains. I have a SCA 180 gallon display tank. It has an internal overflow box (weir). Their are water intake slots on the bottom of the overflow and teeth on the top.
The overflow is drilled with only 2 holes. 1 inch return and 1.5 inch drain. I have a Jeabo DCP 15000 return pump and a Clarisea SK-5000 auto filter roller.
The water level when full is too low for my liking. I have Random Flow Generators on my return lines and I have to point them down so they don't suck in air.
I have the return pump turned down as much as it can go down to prevent excess noise (toilet flushing) and to prevent my filter roller from being overwhelmed.

Whither what I have going on, how can I raise the water level in the tank?

For your drain, what are you using? Durso setup? open drain? If its a durso or similar can you raise the level of it therefore raising your water level?

Good morning Mr. Crabs...
I'm using a Durso.
I only have a very limited amount of space left before I hit the return pipe.
I know making the durso higher will raise the level in the weir but will that raise it in the display too?

How much of a fall is it from the display tank level to the overflow level?

I don't think I have a pic.
This is a new build. I just water tested yesterday with tap to make sure I have no leaks. This is when I saw the problem of lower than I want water level in the DT and too much noise when turning the pump up.

I'm draining the tank as I type this so I can finish the wire management and fill back up with RO/DI.

That is a pretty low water line. We’re the returns on when that pic was taken? When returns turn off, the sump usually fills up with water until the water line is below the baffles.

The hitting the return line makes sense now. How many GPH are you going to be running?

How much higher are you trying to go? Turning your return pump up is very easy and effective

I'm trying to go to just below the eurobrace.
Turning the pump up causes a LOT of noise. It causes noise from the durso, it causes toilet bowl flushing noise and overwhelmed the filter roller.

If you can tell me how to get around these issues, I would love to turn the return pump up!

The returns were ON.
that water line is from the system running
Water fills the sump when system is shut off. Water level in sump is high (about an inch from the top) but no danger of overflowing.

Best way is to cover the weir on the overflow from the bottom up with a piece of black material like ABS or plastic. Use plastic screws to hold it & make the piece long enough to go higher than you think you need it.
You can always make it shorter. Leave the pump where it runs quiet.

Maybe restricting the drain with a valve?

That sounds kinda risky.
Once done and the tank is filled with water, there is no going back and no filtering from the lower part of the tank via the weir.

Don’t block holes and don’t restrict your drain. If you have the return turned all the way down then you are getting minimal water movement. You need to turn the pump up and fix the noise issues

How?

I would love to turn the pump up and fix the noise issue and DT water level but I don't know how.

School me, because I think I'm missing something. Why wouldn't the bottom of the wier slots control the waterline? I don't have this type of overflow; is it normal to have to have a return flow volume that is greater than the wier's ability to drain to raise the water height?
