How to read salifert calcium test?

It has the air bubble because when you add the tip. And you suck up the solution the air bubble is what air was on the syringe so basically the fluid on the tip makes up the air bubble, so I know it needs to have a air bubble because of the tip that is used, I was just asking if he got .19 because that’s how many black dashes it has till the plunger ended up in between two numbers. That’s what I was asking I know it needs a air bubble
The dashes are parts of the milliliter, the whole syringe is 1 ml, and one smallest dash is 0.01 ml, medium one is 0.05ml, the biggest one is 0.1 ml.
It is not that important if it is .19 or .18 the test is not that precise, one drop from the tip is about .02 and your eyes cant really see the color change that precisely, so it is always some inaccuracy with these visual colorimetric tests

Ohhhh!!! Thank you. That explains more how to read the syringe.. but for right now I don’t have the money to get a Hannah checker, I do have a phosphate one, but soon I will get one lol

Welcome: :). Actually Salifert calcium is a good test for our hobby needs. Yes, it is not that precise but it’ is not that important to know if calcium is exactly 420 or 440 ppm. Once you get familiar with the procedure it is easy to use and read. So don’t hurry to change for Hanna if budget is tight.

Even if you did have the money, I do not consider moving from the Salifert to Hanna calcium test to be a desirable change.
