How to stop corals encrusting?

I have several corals that encrusted large areas (montipora and hydnopora), which I did not count on. I cut these corals and glued them into separate rocks.
Encrusting remained. Since I plan to plant other corals in these places, I would not want their encrusting to continue. How to stop (kill)?
Has anyone done this?

Epoxy or kalkwasser paste will do the job. You can try and chisel it out as well, but you might end up messing up your rock scape.

+1 on epoxy. Skimmer will go crazy for a while but I've used it effectively on gsp and monti cap.

What kind of epoxy glue?
In the form of a stick or two-component?

War with encrusting monti and hydnophora? I would bet my house that they win over most any coral you place near them.
Try the epoxy method if that doesn’t work maybe kalk paste the parts that live.

I have no problem with this. If 2 acros collide, they will grow in the other direction.
An encrusting Montipora can encrust any coral, I already had that.
I want to put red blasto and rainbow acan in place of hydnopora and montipora. I’m not ready to let them war.

Question, If I cover this with a piece of foil, can this work?

If you're talking about cover a turkey type foil, I would resist to the dark temptation of doing so.

If "FOIL" is slang for some other type of reefing tool, please let me know.

I'm not up with a lot of the slang words that get thrown around here...lol

Yes, I meant exactly the foil in which the turkey is wrapped before sending to the oven.
This is the only thing that occurred to me. On the one hand, it will create a shadow, on the other, there should be no movement of water, which means that the coral will starve.

You don't want to put foil in your tank as I'm pretty sure it will leach aluminum in time. Your best bet is to get Maine safe epoxy, or gel superglue stop the spread. But over time one of them might encrust the glue/epoxy as well.

you can scratch it and use a hammer if needed. Wait to see where it still lives and do it again after a couple days, and so on... you´ll eventually kill it. Unless there are crevices where you can´t access.

Epoxy and kalk paste works great. In prefer to use jb water weld. It doesn’t make a skimmer go too crazy, is reef safe, and if not pressed too hard onto the rock, it peels off very easily. Small spots, I just use kalk paste. Burns it very quickly. Just turn off all flow, mix the paste to about toothpaste consistency, suck up into a turkey baster or something similar and then apply the paste to the area you want gone. Let it sit for a few minutes and then turn flow back on. I like to use the turkey baster to suck some of the paste back up after to reduce possibly having it float around until it fully dissolved.

Foil? Are you resisting the epoxy and kalk paste idea for some reason? This is the main method we use to keep corals like this at bay.

Aiptasia X works well for me, just burn what you cant remove with it. Alternatively, you can use Kalk and it works fine

Aiptasia-X I have, Calc not. The effect is instantaneous as in the case of Aiptasia?
More? What layer to apply? Since the instructions do not recommend a one-time large dose, then it is necessary to gradually cover small areas?

I use an old steam cleaner to 'cook' any unwanted aiptasia/hydroid that made it into the tank. And know from experience corals can be 'cleaned' with it as well.

I have a new steam cleaner, my wife uses it to clean the kitchen. Did you mean this steam cleaner?
If so, then I will take it from my wife. :) Can you tell us more about this? It looks very tempting and interesting.

Yes just a regular Kärcher steam cleaner with hose and small stream nozzle attachment.
