Looks okay. Baby maxima are tough. Make sure it is in a place that nothing will bother it. Fish, inverts, etc. Any movement except by itself ends badly. Make sure it gets lots of light, and lots of food. That means stirring sanded a bit each day. I also recommend phytoplankton and sps size foods.

Good luck!

Weird. My second post did not go through. I was on my tablet and it can be flaky. They are tough as in difficult, not hardy.

Did you do a full inspection for any snails on the bottom of the clam? Those will kill a baby fast. If you get any pinching in the mantel, you may need to do a freshwater dip, but for now, leave it alone. Seriously, do not move it. Do not let other animals move it. Feed daily with what I mentioned above.

I have raised a few, but most do not survive long term. They are just very finicky.

Yeah I checked it out no snails, feeding it reef roids. I know they are very hard to keep alive when they are small it's around 3 inches but figured I give it a try

I thought it was smaller than that by the pic. I have raised from 3/4" to 3" before something happened and they died. I should not go on vacation ever. :(

3" should be a nice size to begin. Best of luck! Keep us updated with pics.

one thing I have heard of people doing ( I havenot done this ) is to take a 2 liter bottle and cover the clam and inject some phyto in the bottle wait till the water is clear inside to remove
