Huma Huma......:(

So came home at lunch everything was great, fed the tank. Then came home tonight and my Huma Huma was no where to be found, he never misses a meal. Found him wedged behind a rock, his belly had red marks all over it and he was dead. He was king of the tank, his tank mates were a 6 line, 5 chromies, file fish, blue spotted puffer.... but the puffer is very timid, but also twice at big at the trigger. Think the puffer got him?

I’m at a loss of what happened but absolutely hate random fish deaths....

Sorry for the loss, gorgeous fish. Several hours is more than enough time for your clean up crew to start its work sometimes thats what you will find on their exterior.

How long did you have the trigger? Any recent additions?

Really sorry for your loss.I know what your going through right now, I've been through it before. Had a Huma Huma for 15 years, raised it from a 1 inch to 8 inches. Lost it when the power went out on tank and came back on but the pumps didn't. Really miss that stupid fish.
Give it a couple of weeks and go get another.

Yes I got this pic, still bummed out.. had just got him to take food from the tongs.

Did he get stuck? They really wedge themselves in the rocks. Otherwise, these fish are about as bulletproof as they come. I’ve had mine since 2003 and he has been through it all.

Sorry for your loss, looks like some sort of hemorrhage; 3 possible thoughts. Could be internal, some sort of organ failure, hemorrhage. The puffer beat the living crap out of him, but I think you would have seen some signs before it went this far, this happens when 1st introduced together or an escalation; puffers don't usually snap like triggers. Or a rock slide that crushed him, triggers wedge themselves into crevices, it's what they do, they will even move rocks around, even large ones to get comfortable.
