I'm sure everyone, here on R2R, has heard of the Hunger Games hype. Did you or any of your family get pulled in? Did anyone enjoy the movie or read the book?

Read the books and saw the movie. Have to say that it was nice to put faces to everyone in the books
Same with the scenes. I did feel like they left out a lot of important scenes in the movie that would make the
Story seem confusing. All in all I liked it tho.

I, too, read the books, and was excited to see the movie, and enjoyed it. Those who hadn't read the book didn't seem to enjoy it as much, though.

didnt read the books but the movie seemd to be an awful lot of build up for an awful lot of let down non action.

LOVED the books and the movie, they are relitivly fast reading! However, I didnt like the whole "lets make it like twlilight" with Team Peeta and Gale, but I do have to say, Im all for Peeta!

I agree with the whole Twilight set up. They were parading around the premiers like there was some super intense love triangle that was certainly not the case.

All the hype was definitely brought on by the book readers who were looking forward to seeing the characters come to life, but in the uproar I think it was built up so big that it was a let down to a lot of those who didn't read the books. My husband was especially thrown off by the futuristic dress code in the capital, which to me seemed perfectly normal?! And a lot of people who didn't read the book thought it was going to be about some sort of shortage of food that people had to survive.

I'll have to say, however, that out of all the book to movie films I've seen, it stayed the most true to the book, IMO.

^ Haha! Yes! You will soon know my friend, you will soon know!

Read the books, haven't seen the movie. I initially was excited to see a movie about a fun series, but then I heard about the Twilight comparison. Kinda made me not want to see it anymore.

I heard the same thing, I've never seen any of the twilight movies so I don't have anything to compare. I enjoyed Hunger games...yeah there's a love story, but there's still action and survival which made it an enjoyable movie. To be honest I thought the love story was and undertone to an action movie

Nothing like Twilight!

^^That's awesome! What were some of the shots, do you know? Where are you from?

:doubt: I will be the hater here. I read the books and saw the movie. I was SO diappointed in the movie that I was legitimately sad. It didn't make me feel anything for the characters. Peeta was anemic in the movie. I thought that some of the scenes that were very important in the book were left out or if a scene was directly taken from the book the dialog was changed not to improve story, but for no other reason than to change the dialog so that it was different than the book. I am not a purist. I thought it was brilliant to give Seneca a role in the movie to be the explainer of the games since it was a POV book. The real shocker was after the movie finding out that Collins actually was billed as the co-screenwriter as I thought the writing sapped so much out of the book from the movie.

I think they were trying to go for the twilight feel/audience for the $$ factor which is total sell out. It could have been so much more. They should have been aiming for Star Wars.

THANK GOD there will be a new director for Catching Fire. ;)
