I'm down in Houston right now for Ike cleanup and I gotta admit...BUD LIGHT IS A MUST!!!

The sad thing is Ike made it up to Ohio the day after I left and knocked out power until yesterday. After a week of no power I'm guessing I don't have a reef to come home to :(

I had 2 tornadoes rip through my subdivision from ike related storms in metro detroit. Missed my house by half a block.

yup we had major flooding from Ike over in Allegan michigan. I also dont think that was from IKE but from a different storm as I remember that pic from quite a while ago.

Yeah, but i think a lot of people deal with tragedy in their own way. Humor being one of them. I remember when i lost virtually everything i owned in a huge house fire, and all i could do was crack jokes.

Its how i managed to get through the day.

To me you cant live if you cant find some sort of humor or try to take a bad situation and turn it around to something positive.

For example:

If my house was to burn down would I be devistated? No but I would be very distraught at first. But I would see the brite side of things and realize that now I can "make changes" and it would give me a reason to finish remodeling certain parts of the house. But in this case I would be able (hopefully) to use my insurance to cover the costs. Now this is an example and does not mean I wish my house to burn down. I hope it never does as it would be a hardship as in I would have to find a place to stay until I could get it repaired/remodeled.

I think those two must be alcoholics. But at least if they get dehydrated there's plenty of water around them to drink. lol

Us Miamians have been dodging hurricane bullets left and right this year. I just wish the building construction in the Gulf states were up to the same codes as it is here and maybe they wouldn't continue to get damaged as badly. When Wilma and Rita came through here 3 years ago with 90-110 mph winds, a lot of people lost their roofs, but houses weren't blown away.

Galveston island has a history of bad hurricanes, its just the really bad one in 1900 which killed 6000+ people and literally wiped the island clean happened so long ago that people forget.

Living on the coast is beautiful but it comes with a price. The Gulf states are getting a dose of what we in S Fl have to prepare for every summer. It really sucks and I hope they get the aid they need this time.

thanks RG, im a houstonian, well actually im a brit living here.... you are right about the construction here

a lot of damage occurred from swell, some beach areas lost 200 feet to the sea, so there are houses that are gone or not safe to inhabit....i work downtown and tornados came through here, office furniture came out of building windows onto the street and stuff.... a lot of areas still dont have power and some parts arent expecting power for a couple more weeks... one of my colleagues lost everything in new orleans, moved here and had a tree fall on his house

unfortunately with people being evacuated a lot of reefers lost a lot or everything, a nuber are hanging up their little green nets for good... i still havent heard from a lot of people that were evacuated..

i lost a nano of sps, basically because the tank got too hot, and a couple of things in my 175...i had just spent a couple of hundred bucks in an order a couple of days earlier and lost all that... people have been pulling together tho, housing each others corals, etc etc tying to givefrags to people that lost everything
