Anyone know what the mix ration is for HW Marinemix Reefer Salt? Instructions just say to mix to desired density.
Hoping for cups per gallon since I don't have a scale.
Thanks

Probably around 3c per 5g like most salts. I'd start with that and adjust from there. I used to love that salt in the Nineties, it's just too hard to come by these days.

So I'm trying to go backwards. 20kg = 160gallons 1.024. (44 pounds salt)
Should come out to .275 pounds per gallon.
.275 pounds of (table salt) = .44 cups
Does that sound right? .44 cups = 1.024 SG for HW Salt?

Sounds light for full strength seawater. The calculator posted is handy.

Start with 1/2 cup per gallon and then adjust. I always mix cold, heat up later and then measure the salinity. Moisture can make salt heavier and affect volume. I would never trust any measurement at any time without checking unless you use a whole vessel of salt - like a whole 50g bag of salt at once, for example.

Yeah, I'm just mixing this one directly in the tank since its empty. The write up on BRS just said the 20kg box makes 160g of 1.024. Id rather under shoot than over since I'm mixing direct. I know the Instant Ocean is 1/2C per gallon. Was just odd there was no reference on the HW package.

must have missed it before but BRS has at the bottom, 1/2C per 1 gallon or 1 pound per 3.6 gal. DOn't know why HW doesn't include a target and test to confirm.
