What do you guys think, will we see any deals on HYDROS products for the upcoming Black Friday sales?

Been looking to make the switch from Neptune APEX but also hoping to not spend a grand for the Launch and XP8 add on.

Nothing has been publicly announced for this year, but previous years they have done 10% off controllers (but excluded parts/accessories/brand new products) starting the Friday before Thanksgiving. That sale has been the same for at least the last 2 years. So that will give you a good idea of possible sales this year.

Thanks.
That's a little disappointing but I guess it's something.

I am looking at doing the switch also but having a heck of a time coming up with the combo I want to control everything eventually.

Nice thing is I can start small and easily ad on but I don't want to buy something that winds up being redundant and none of the hydros stuff has the combo i want without adding extras.

if i can sell my apex stuff i may jump on a black Friday deal.

This is exactly my "issue". I've gone back and forth with exactly what I need vs what I want to do. I agree that I don't need redundant ports on all the modules. But I do also like that I can build as my needs change too.

I have a bunch of notes and spreadsheets that I am listing items I need. Things I want to monitor and do then the combos of controllers i will need to do everything eventually and what it will cost me with the different combos.

It is really tiring. I am actually thinking my first go with hydros will be to control my mixing station and figure out how to do fully automated weekly 40G water changes at the push of a button.

Looks like i would need a " Launch" to control the mixing station.

wish more of their controllers had 01-10 inputs or the x4 would have a salinity probe.

Yeah they don’t really run sales often and when they do they’re not very good sales. Your best bet is watching the Coralvue outlet, the best discounts are normally on there if they have refurb units.

I'm with ya. I do like that if one fails, the others modules can step up. I also like the fact tha the kraken can act as a battery backup relay in the case of a power failure.

You can add a X3-S to a collective with an X4 to get you a salinity port. It also has 2 sense ports and the sense ports seem to get used quickly. Hydros did not have a salinity port option when the X4, X2 and original X3 were introduced. The first controller to have one was the X10 then came the Launch and after that the X3-S. The X3-S is basically an X3 without a pH port but with the salinity port added instead. The Launch has 4 drive ports instead of the 2 on the X4 and they can deliver more current than the ones on an X4.

I have looked at this option. actually looking at them all.

For my display tank I actually think a Launch,x3, SOL, 2x wifi strip or xp8 and Ivy will do everything I need for now on my DT and will ad a blenny when the Maven is released and vetted by others.

For my mixing station I think a single Launch will work.

then ad a bunch of 4x float switches,6x optical sensors, 2x salinity probes, dual tds sensor,4x 12v NC solenoids, c02 solenoid, push button box and an auto feeder.

I think that is my wish list. I am sure I am missing things and there will be more that I want to ad.
I am hoarding pennies.

Just priced everything out thru Top shelf aquatics, have never used them but had an easy site to navigate.

i am around $3k for everything i want minus bus cables to connect everything. in reality it don't think that is to bad, just a hard pill to swallow.

Just don't get the feeder. Im happy with everything else i got. The feeder port rusted and now it wont work.

What website should I look at to get these discounts?
Nothing has been announced yet. I started the thread to see if anyone thought there would be a discount, so I knew whether or not to hold off.

If there is a sale, most places will have it for the same price. I personally like Aquacave.com and of course Saltwateraquarium.com for online orders. I'm sure others will have favorites to share.

I have had one of the feeders since they came out with it. It is in my canopy but it is ventilated so that might be the difference.

I always start on the coralvue website to see if they have any clearance items first.

Exactly what I’m looking to do is switch to hydros I had a bad experience with GHL customer service after a power bar ( less then 6 months old) was faulty it keep resetting on its own I sent it out to them and they claimed nothing wrong and can’t replace it. I’m not here to spend 100s for products I can’t rely on I’m ready to switch. Hydros seeems like the best option now
