Did you already install the new firmware on the other controllers in the collective? I alway download on all controllers and make sure it completes before I start installing it on any controller. That way it is less likely to have some controllers with old firmware and some with new and have issues downloading onto one of the controllers. I have a terrible internet connection so I get this quite a bit since I am always loosing internet multiple times a day.

Okay, after the 15th attempt they both updated to 242. Now I don’t have an app just gray blank screen. What’s the fix on this?

My internet is pretty fast and doesn’t go in and out.

I think part of the problem was the hydros was between a wall and tank, once moved into the direct line site of router it did try to download and succeeded a couple of times. The next time it has an update I’ll move the hydros first then I’ll download the updates to both before trying to install. Thanks for the info@n2585722.

I am not sure how you guys can use a phone to do much with the app. It is too small for me. I use a iPad most of the time.
I don’t have a lot of things tied to Hydros like you. Easy to maneuver through the app.

I usually download it at work and then install once I get home. I would never try and install remotely.

To add to this problem there is only one outlet in use on the left hand side, now it’s turning off and on, I can’t stop it. This outlet was used for a fan, which I have unplugged, using temperature to turn on and off. If I can’t get to it to turn it off… I’ll be hearing clicking constantly.

I'm getting this too?? What did you do

Unplugged xp8 and all equipment, restarted modem and router and it worked, that was crazy, it had me scrambling
Yes, I was ready to start unplugging things and removing XP8. I restarted modem and router, unplugged Hydros and moved it forward, it was between wall and tank. That could’ve been a major issue.

I had the LED lights on a schedule (the LEDs on the WE, XP8, etc). I noticed that tonight most of the LEDs are off, but some still on. Before this update they would be completely off. Confirmed the on/off times, rebooted each device, and rebooted collective.

I didn’t have any issues updating this morning though. updated each device smoothly. Note: the control units are within LOS of my router, and no water between.

I’m hoping for more accessories and modules in the future. I’m a techie guy though. I don’t “need” this or the apex or any others, but it’s fun to tinker with to automate things and to help promote cord management (especially with the WE).

Thats funny you say that I just looked at my units, I usually have them dark when the photo period is off, hopefully they get that ironed out , I feel like it's brighter in the pictures but still it's usually dark

Thought I would add to this discussion. I have two XP8 and an X4 Controller. This was my first time updating the firmware and I made the mistake of doing so while driving my kids to daycare. Fifteen minutes after I updated it my wife called in a panic and said the tank was about to overflow. When I looked in the app, every single piece of equipment was set to "override on." Approximately 1.5-2 gallons of ATO water filled a 33 gallon Waterbox and sent the salinity from 35-30 in a fifteen minute timeframe.

All the LPS look fine (some even looked downright happy), the fish are fine, even some of the acros still have good PE and look fine but I know I am going to lose some of my SPS. I brought the salinity back up to 32 or so and filled the ATO with saltwater to bring it slowly back up to 35.

Feel downright sick about this.

This happened today 07/29. Accepting any advice/words of consolation.

I feel your pain!! and learned an update lesson myself, never update away from the house or before going to bed and update one device at a time, and power cycle modem and router more often. If the hydros app gets hung up force stop app and try again.

Yeah I could imagine your wife was probably hearing all the beeping figuring of course it's happening when your not around :)

I dont think you have anything to worry about with your salinity, that's not to bad.
