I don't understand zoas, can someone explain their view on them?

There is no problem with zoa's being invasive, unless you got a fish that rips them off and spits them out I guess.

Yes, they will cover the entire rock they are on, but once they have done that, that's where they will stay, they don't float around or grow on sand. Just don't put them on your main rock if you don't want it covered, put them on islands, or just cut the nub of the fragplug and put the base on the sand, giving you little domes of zoa's once the plug is covered.

And if you have an accident/laziness with them touching another rock and attaching, you can always aiptasia-X that spot and move the rocks further apart

Also, don't get the Alien Explosion or Pandora varieties with the intention of cutting them back/gardening. If you give those a rock or a glass panel, that is theirs and they will take ownership. Most zoa's aren't like that though and can be easily gardened and pruned.
