anthias and I would like to have some so darn bad! I can never seem to get them past QT. This is the 3rd time I've bought some.

Bought 3 lyre tails the other day. Spent a while observing them, even asked the dude to feed them so I could see they were eating. Get them home, and 1 is dead within 24 hours, another is not too far behind I'm afraid (barely over 48 hours), and the 3rd isn't eating and is being a little sluggish. I'm suspecting a bacterial infection and have some nitrofuracin green going since last night.

So aggravating! Am I having real bad luck or does anyone else have these troubles?

That's a bummer. I have 3 Lyretails 1 male and 2 females, 1 blotched anthias, and 1 male Bimaculatus. They all eat like pigs, frozen mysis, flakes, pellets. I did loose my 2 female Bimaculatus because they simply refused to feed. Funny thing is the male is still alive and a raging bully.

I had 3 Lyretails in my 90 and lost all 3. They made it a bit longer than yours but 1 of the came in with ick I believe and wiped out my entire tank

Questions:

What's your acclimation process?

Do you monitor ammonia in QT?

My acclimation process is to float to match temperature, then providing the salinity matches I will release which it did in this case.

As far as ammonia, I typically do ttm, so I wont monitor it until after the transfers and they are going to stay put for a few more weeks. It is measuring 0 currently though.

That's quick to be losing fish. What is your filtration for qt? Any meds? Other chemicals/water treatments? Heater?
