Until I built this quick & easy sock washer.

Materials:
1 - Metal paper towel holder $5-?? at Amazon,
1 - Scrap piece of 2” PVC pipe,
1 - cap for the top,
2 – 4 Zip ties.

Assembly:

1. Cut the PVC to length (depending on the size of your socks)

2. Drill a hole wide enough to pass a tie wrap through on each side of the PVC pipe.
NOTE: be sure your holes line up with the crossbar on the base of the holder.

3. Slide you PVC pipe over and down the paper towel holder.

4. Run tie through the hole across the bar then back through the hole. Both sides.

5. Place the cap on top.

I use two clamps to a table hold it steady

Now it’s time to wash your socks.
Slide the sock over the PCV pipe
Using regular garden hose with a spray on the end. Spray the sock from top to bottom, moving the sock around the PVC pipe until clean

I used to do mine in our washing machine one cycle inside out then a rinse cycle after turning them right side out. Do a bunch at a time with nothing nasty left in the machine. I switched to reef diapers a few months ago tho so now I don't wash socks

Pretty neat! I use the mesh ones and rinse them out once a week. More for noise control than catching waste. Before that I had fleece socks that got washed in washing machine with no soap.

Honestly I have tried multiple rinse methods (including spraying down as soon as they get pulled out of the tank), but ultimately I haven't found any method that works as good as tossing them in the wash with a little bleach and multiple hot water rinses.

Rinse in the sink. Turn inside out.takes like 30 seconds. When you have a bunch Throw in washer with a little bleach extra rinse and done. Buy like 20. Really can’t be any easier.
Doing this same thing for years and years.

My process
invert them when they come out of the tank
Wait till the wife is out for several hours
run the rinse and spin cycle empty once to get rid of residue
run once with a little bleach to on sterilize cycle
run once more on rinse cycle
get them out before the wife gets back (should have NEVER said they were there to get rid of fish poop)
buy another set from amazon so I don’t have to wash them as often

Works for me

that’s said, am about to try a couple of weeks sockless just to see what happens

It can be easier, use Reef Diapers. They are dirt cheap. Remove the sock, throw it away, put a new one in.

would be tempted to have water spray in the middle of the sock. Make the PVC into a spray bar.

Washing machine for me. I don't see what the big deal is putting them in the machine. I mean you run skid marked underwear through there. Same difference...lol

Im no expert and have only been cleaning socks for a few weeks now.

But soak in bleach overnight. Turn inside out and hose down outside. Turn back inside out and rinse with RO. Takes like 3 minutes.
