I have a reef octopus 110 its running in about 7inches of water. The skimmate that it makes is alittle bit in the cup. Alot of the matter gets caught in the cone or tube of the skimmer. If i raise the water lvl inside of the skimmer the skimmer will not create a thick foam head. So i dont know which is better to have a thick foamhead and collect all te stuff in the tube or high water lvl in skimmer and .... idk what will happen? thanks

I set mine to make a thicker foam. You will have crud buildup on the neck. I always do. Otherwise it's a wet skim.

The spec sheet say to run the skimmer in like 4-6 inches of water. With me having it at 7 will that have a effect on the skimmate produced. I am trying to get the best out of my skimmer.

I had an sro3000-xp int. U ran mine about that deep i think. It was on about 200 gallons of system with several large tangs. I had to clean it weekly. Having gunk in the next is not a bad thing. I set my new skimmer that way.
