Hello all,

I have recently inherited a lovely tank with two clowns ( a mocha and a darwin).. lucky me!

The tank has a bit of an algae issue which I'm getting on top of slowly however there's a few other plants ect that I can't seem to find an infinitive identification using Google.. that's where you guys come in! :)

I am not fussed on getting rid of anything yet, but if any of it is not wanted then some advise on that would be great, the first thing I done was take a sample of the water to my local aquatics to get it tested and all conditions are ok!

Thanks in advance and apologies for the photo overload.. hope they're are clear enough!

Sooo much going on. I see hydroids, Vermetid snails, green hair algae, Aptasia, Sponges, possibly tunicates, Feather worms, and the red algae might possibly be Fauchea sp.

Very knowledgeable! Thank you for the names.. are any of them a big no no that I have to treat straight away?

Aptasia you def want to get rid of. I've used kalwasser + water and mix it up. Syringe or turkey base the crap out of them. My red slime and green hair algae are being eaten by my yellow tang and purple tang.

Do get rid of the hydroids If the rock is infested.

Small patches can be covered by frag putty. Pics one and three.

Pic two is a feather duster.

Pic 5 I’m honestly not sure. It does kinda look like an anamonae. Slight possibility an aptasia.

Dry rock is boring.

On a positive note, you'll be amazed at how quickly a little TLC will transform that into something beautiful.

Yes the hydroids are everywhere!!! I've read they are harmful to corals but are they harmful to fish also??

Yeah I have left pic five as I'm not too sure but maybe best to yank it out and air on the side of caution..

Thanks!!

They can pack a potent sting yes. For any thing that touches em.

Toss and dry infested rocks. And putty the small patches and you’ll be fine.
