After being unsatisfied with my koralia 750's for the last year, they decided to completely lock up on me today, then have the shafts break into pieces. (Yes I keep them clean, yes I vinegar bathe them)

I had been eyeing the vortech features, looks, and posh looks so I finally pulled the trigger tonight.

Please make me feel better about the sticker shock lol

The ecotech tidal swell seems like what I'd like to use...a random flow then a surge to clear detritus. What do u use?

I heard that standing waves in an aquarium will hurt the silicone seals, is this true? My tank is 1/2" glass all around

why do you need to be consoled? It's a Vortech!! The two main things you need to spend money on in your tanks is your lights and flow!

just got one for my 75gal and after watching and playing with it, I would buy 5 more if I could. you will be over the shock in an hour

Lol I know they're infinitely popular, I just hope you all are right! I'm extremely frugal, so this is a huge risk for me. Depending on the features, I may try to get the apex wireless module, but will have to look into it

Don't give it another thought. Great power heads. I'm using a 60 and a 40 on my 265 tank and have lots of flow. I use reef crest mode in anti synch mode. I can also get a wave going in my tank if I want

Trust everyone, once you get that bad boy in your tank and see the flow, and how un obtrusive it is, you'll want another. I keep mine on nutrient transport mode and since my SPS has taken off! I've got an MP10 on my 45g cube and I have a wave going. I have yet to have an issue (knock on wood).

How's the noise level? Right now my tank is in the bedroom, hopefully within the next few months I will be in my new house and the tank will be in the fish room.

Will I hear this over my return pump/ skimmer?

You're going to like it so much that you will be buying a second one soon!!! I have 2 in my 65 gallon :)

I also have two in my 65gallon. They are great!

They are great pumps and I have three myself with probably a fourth one on the way soon as a backup (I keep backups of everything from pumps to chillers to lights) but to me they are loud and the loudest thing on my tank. I've got a pair of Mag 12 return pumps and ATI PowerCone 200is skimmer for reference as to noise.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy SIII

I have 2 on my 180, the undertow they create is insane. I have one side down to 50% or so to keep my elegance happy. The undertow actually pulled my elegance about 7" across the sand bed the first time I cranked it up on the new tank.

Settings I like to switch it up every once in a while to change flow a bit. But mostly reef crest and lagoon settings. Wife doesn't like pulses.
