I needed a chiller, and from the “aquarium brands” that we are familiar with I had some sticker shock. Fans don’t get it done when my house goes into Eco mode. And, since I am only looking to pull down 4 degrees, 5 at the very high side, I decided to give this a shot. I recently had a great experience with their add on extended warranty, so, knowing I can return it in the first year with that, I am going to give it a shot. So here it sits in my living room. I’ll make a post looking for install insight. But.. on to the topic.
When I purchased it, I paid $1,634 and the warranty was 10% of the unit cost. Comparatively, I was good with that. I had already seen the Ali version, which is not spec’s with Ti, so I pulled the trigger. It arrived Wednesday. Amazon had to send 2 people to bring it into my garage. It weighs nearly 100 pounds. So far so good right? Well last night I was researching how many amps this pulls (now I need an EB4, I didn’t realize why EB4s were special, learn something new everyday). So I go to the Amazon page, as I was lazy and didn’t want to find the instructions. Lo and behold, it’s on sale for 17% off. I start a chat with Amazon and after 30 minutes with the lady, who was not at all giving me a hard time. They told me that they simply can’t figure out how to avoid having me return this and buy it back on sale. To make matters worse, since I purchased the Warranty, and due to the size and weight, I don’t have to physically return it. Amazon is sending 2 people Monday to pick it up from my front steps. I’ve already ordered the new one, and it will be here Wednesday. Amazing. It’s hard not to do business with them.
