I kalked my tank last night

I have never done this before, so I have no clue how bad this could turn out to be.......

I got home last night from 3 days away to see my CO2 was out and my alk was @ 5.4. I changed out the CO2 and set up my kalk reactor (to drip in a g or 2) and sat to watch the Caps Pens game. I just happened to glance over at the tank to see 250g of milk in my tank (kalk). The kalk line must have had a clog that freed it self and allowed the fresh kalk to POUR in.

I did a 40g water change and the pH was readinhg 9.1 (after the change) so needless to say I don't want to ship out the frags I recentley sold today.

I will try to get out of work as soon as I can to go home and do another 40g water change.

Many corals were sliming up. My red table had slime strands that were close to 10"

ive done this before with no losses. seems you caught it pretty quickly which should prevent any bad things from happening.

Between kalk and part 2 of 2-part (ahem) I've overdosed on at least 3-4 occassions. I just ride it out no worse for the wear.

I overdosed on two part and everything turned out fine. It took about a full day for the water to clear up from milky white. I just had a fine "dusting" of precipitate the next day. I didn't do any water changes or anything . . .

Lost a tang and a blue tort frag. Could have been worse.

One dead fish, two dead corals. Corals were only frags so I'm happy.

Fish was a Lavender Tang I've had for 18 months.
