Have you seen Dana Riddle's lecture on PAR? It's kinda long but the part that concerns your question is about 22 minutes in the lecture. Very informative. And will help you use your PAR info to advantage in your tank.

Thank you I will watch it.
What corals are you cooking? What lights do you have and what are your par numbers?
Thank you. Hydra 26 HD . I am planning to only keep soft and LPS.

Im also running the 26's , could you share more details for # lights, mounting height and tank depth, in your set up.
I'd like to get a feel for what I'm getting while waiting on the par meter to become available from the local club.

Cheers

That is a gorgeous tank sir. I have two 26 HDs over a 180! You have a ton of light going on there! :)

I have only one or two pictures that are brag worthy...worthy of sharing, I mean...:) These are my first attempts with our Nikon. My tank is on a rebuild journey. And these guys are some of my first additions. We will be doing a soft and LPS tank. I have sons who I try to keep interested in the tank by giving them a lot of say in what we put in the tank. They all agree things that move and sway are the only way to go. Out of the mouth of the 16 year old “ Things that dance, mom”. And the Nemo’s need their anemone.

Those are good numbers. How many watts per fixture are your settings?
They are 90W from the wall per Aqu Illumination website. I am having a hard time finding information on the PAR requirements of of the corals I would like to keep. This hobbies never just easy...which keeps me interested I know...

I think your tank looks great and your pics look awesome as well. I think your par numbers are perfect for dancing corals. There’s a couple spots you could put a couple sps as well later down the road when your system matures. Good job. This is where you can find the total wattage your settings are pulling

I bet those 26’s have more power left in them but you don’t need that unless you want to try sps. Keep the pictures coming

So you have the 52 HDs? Did you copy a program from somewhere? I see you have your reds up a bit higher than the BRS program I copied (sorta). I have my red and green up a tad more than they recommended also. Mostly because the softy programs I have seen have more red in them. It is nice to see some affirmation for my PAR, THANK YOU! @Chaswood79

Yes I have 2 52 HD’s so the numbers will be a little different than the 26’s. My program has a little less white than the BRS ab+. The most important advice I can give you on hydras or any led fixture for that matter is find what spectrum looks good to your eyes and don’t change it. You can slowly adjust the intensity up or down but don’t make drastic changes to your spectrum. You can adjust the intensity on your mobile device by putting 2 fingers vertically on the graph and spread your fingers apart to increase or squeeze your fingers together to decrease. You can put 2 fingers horizontally and slide left or right to change the start time.

I have had A hydra 26 HD for a couple years now but never knew the PAR. I also experienced a decline in coral after I switched to the Hydras but also had several factors come into play. Biggest one being a queen angel matured into a coral nipping turd bird! Lol. Miss her though. Only fish I ever had that farted when you started her. I have three boys. They loved that fish.
