ReefBreeders Meridan question for you using them

So, i just PAR mapped my Meridians to get an idea of what they do. I notice the Blues are what mostly drive the PAR. Did you all just peg all the other channels (sans maybe white for aesthetics) and then raise the blues to attain a desired PAR reading? Any reason to taper the UV channel?

I started with a schedule from one in the community list that I liked and tweaked it to suit my needs. I always set my lights so they are visually pleasing to me then I adjust each channels equally to obtain the par desired. I like a little pop but am not a fan of neon coral. I don't don't frag so appearance is more important than accelerated growth for me.

Since this has a dedicated UV channel is there any thought about the value of that?

My (limited) understanding is that it helps promote color. I'm sure it is something to start low with and increase over time. Have you all just matched it to the other light intensities or is there value in trying to surpass and capitalize on it?

I'm sure there is a point of "too much of a good thing", but can this light take you there?

I run all channels except white at 50%, whites at 25%, and this gives me roughly 110-125 par at the sand.

That's my hair algae garden It only grows on plastic / acrylic so I vacuum it off when I do WCs but it keeps coming back.

fwiw, I used fluco and had good luck with getting rid of my gha problems.

I used it once on another tank then I ended up with cyano and got caught up in a chemiclean flux cycle that didn't end well. I figure as long as it's staying on the back wall I'm just going to keep working on it during WCs. It seems to be a little slower to grow back each time so I'm optimistic lol. If nothing else it's providing a habitat for pods lol. My sixline and fire shrimp are picking stuff out of it.

Do you have a fuge or ATS? Having it grow somewhere else and managing out of the display might make it stay away to. I did have to run fluco and then chemiclean right after. But I did stay hair free and cyano free after - I didn't get the back and forth cycle.

I just set up a meridian 11 over a 20G, will try this setting when its time to turn the lights on, will start lower power but keep the ratios

I go from a 10,000 k look early in the day, to a 14,000k look in the afternoon as I step down the 3500k and 5000k whites. At that point I drop out the light blue and indigo and increase the violets and UV for an evening 20,000K look. My blues stay high all through the cycle. All bases covered, par and pur.

I actually don't I just thought that people would look at it and think it was just crazy. It seems to be working well in my mixed reef though.

I have a blue Maxima high up on my aquascape right in the middle hotspot. It's getting 350+ par there for a few hours during my high light period.

I actually have added it to the community it's called Frank's Reef. And looking over some of the other schedules my schedule isn't that crazy after all
